We have wrapped up a fabulous 14th year of serving our wonderful guests here in Cedarville, Ohio and are enjoying every minute of it!  Increased numbers of cyclists are discovering Hearthstone Inn & Suites, stepping right off the Ohio-to-Erie Bike Trail and into our lobby for a restful stay.  We've hosted several weddings on site, conference groups, innumerable "get-away-ers", and Village of Yellow Springs explorers. We cannot believe that we are now in our 15th year!  Thank you to all our guests, your word-of-mouth sharing, and overall tremendous reviews.

The renowned "Chautauqua" historic presentation troupe chose our inn as "home" during this year's week-long dramatic presentations in Clifton, Ohio. The annual  "Christmas Lights at the Historic Clifton Mill" (just 5 minutes away) has attracted record numbers of guests for Hearthstone Inn stays. The uniqueness of our Deluxe Jacuzzi King Suites has provided many with the ideal escape for those special celebratory times. While no hotel is absolutely perfect in every aspect, we have experienced increased numbers of guests raving about our non-franchise, independent property.  Several guest comments were offered (which we hear at least 3-4 times per year) "I've traveled the world, but Hearthstone Inn & Suites is truly among the best places I've stayed!".

As fall entered winter this year, our town was treated to a rare phenomena - hoarfrost.  Here are a few photos of this amazing event taken in our very own Indian Mound Reserve Park (located just a minute away from Hearthstone Inn & Suites here in Cedarville, Ohio and featuring hiking trails, a limestone gorge, waterfall, and an ancient Adena tribe mound):

We're just 12 minutes from both  I-70, exit 54 (Springfield/Cedarville) and I-71, exit 65 (Jeffersonville/Tanger Outlets, then west on US 35 for just one (1) exit to the Jamestown/Cedarville exit, State Route 72 north).

The "holidays" are behind us, decorations are stored away, and thankfully there's not a sign of another 2013-14 style "Polar Vortex".  Here in Cedarville, Ohio, our moderate temperatures and the astounding national gas prices brought more guests than EVER to see the nearby lights of Historic Clifton Mill.  A good number of families and small groups chose Hearthstone Inn & Suites for their holiday get-togethers.  Finally, a huge "thank you" to our many guests, our TripAdvisor ranking has now propelled us into the #1 position of ALL hotels in our 2-county area! Ready for the Holidays?

Our local Bike Trail traffic has subsided.....leaves have changed color from green to red to orange to brown and have fallen....the cold weather front has pushed out the last remnants of warmth.  It's the season of transition once again at Hearthstone Inn & Suites.   

As the season changes, so does our "busyness".  It's a GREAT time to plan either a fall getaway, or to consider putting up those visiting family members at our top-rated hotel!  November's Thanksgiving ushers in the astounding HISTORIC CLIFTON MILL festival of lights!  From the DaytonLocal website:

For over 20 years Clifton Mill has celebrated the Christmas season in a very special way. Our light display is one of the country's finest with over 3.5 million lights illuminating the mill, the gorge, the riverbanks, trees and bridges. There is even a 100 foot "waterfall" of twinkling lights. The flip of one switch turns all the lights on at once transforming night into a fantastical winter wonderland.

The lights have been featured in Midwest Living and Ohio Magazine. There is a Miniature Village, a Santa Claus Museum and a spectacular synchronized lights and music show that features the old Covered Bridge. Every night until Christmas you can peek into Santa's Workshop to see a live Santa at work and then, every 15 minutes or so, watch him check his list and go up the chimney to load his sleigh!

So gather your family and head out to see The Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill for an instant "Christmas Spirit" boost.

October...November....December.  How fast flips the calender page once pumpkins pop up in your local store!  Pumpkin this....pumpkin that.  Transition to pumpkin pie. What goes with that pie?  Thanksgiving turkey.  If you REALLY enjoy turkey....save room for the Christmas turkey!  

It's been a great 2014 here at Hearthstone Inn & Suites.  From the time we received the coveted TripAdvisor "Certificate of Excellence" (in June) until now, more and more people are saying farewell to the Roaming Knomes on TV and are choosing their hotel based on REAL life reviews!  If you have stayed with us, do tell a friend!  Word of mouth advertising has been our biggest blessing and is much less expensive than Hollywood animation, trained "Happy Dancers" or retired Star Trek captains!

The holidays are a time for travel to visit family, and a time for family to travel to visit us! Here at Hearthstone Inn & Suites, the holidays are the time of year that really sets us apart from the "franchise national brand" hotels/motels.  As an independent country inn, we add the textures of personality and warmth.   Most definitely these are not associated with the "brand" hotel, but very essential to who WE are!  

Currently we are in the fall festival season here in SW Ohio.  The Renaissance Festival runs through October 19 in Harveysburg and surrounding towns have weekend celebrations of corn, apples, maple syrup, popcorn, apples, mums....you name it!  The Village of Yellow Springs features the wildly popular "Street Fair" on October 11.  Corn mazes with spooky goblins, Jack-O-Lanterns, and midnight monsters sprout up all over our area through October 31. Area universities have homecomings and special events.  There are plays and concerts galore.  The weather gets cooler....but the enjoyment of events and friends certainly adds warmth.

During the holidays, there are often more family members for you to to entertain than room in your house. Thanksgiving can really pack out your dining room. Prelude to the Holidays Again!

Leaves will soon be falling, colors changing, and so the season transitions quickly after Labor Day! Already we are seeing Christmas decor in stores and shops.  As usual, our bike trail guest traffic has increased as leisure trail riders take full, glorious  advantage of the cooler temperatures.  Antiquers are frequenting both the Springfield Ohio and Waynesville Ohio "hot spots" for timely treasures, and the Ohio Renaissance Festival is in FULL SWING!  In fact, we were privileged to host two enthusiastic newlyweds who tied the knot (or maybe cast the marriage gauntlet?) at the festival in full period attire! CONGRATULATIONS to Sir Frank and his wife Lady Katie! A lovelier couple 'tis impossible to find!

If you haven't attended the Ohio Renaissance Festival, the 2014 edition runs Saturdays/Sundays through October 19.  Tickets are available at discounted prices - but hurry!  Most Saturdays are now sold out - Sunday is still a very affordable option!

We have installed a new parking lot canopy for your safety and weather protection.  It is now twice as wide and twice as long, inviting you in to enjoy the continued quality of the one-and-only Hearthstone Inn & Suites.  All guest rooms have been newly upgraded to the H2O+ amenities line (same amenities as Disney Resorts and Disney Cruise Lines).

Passing through Summer - Great Things Ahead!

If you are like the staff here at Hearthstone Inn & Suites, there are those moments that you pause and wonder where the time went!  Seasons seem to fly by with ever-quickening speed!  It seems like just a few weeks ago we were putting in Spring plants and freshening the mulch around the inn.  In short order, local colleges produced freshly-minted graduates,  the temperatures climbed into the 90s, the battle of weeds began in earnest, and our adjacent BIKE TRAIL saw ever-increasing numbers of cyclists dropping in.  Quite a few either staying a night - or planning to in the near future! 

Then there were a number of local summer conferences and small group adventures. Several out-of-state cycling groups (including from Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia) chose Hearthstone as their "base of operations" for multi-day excursions.  On a few occasions, individual cyclists stayed with us on cross-country trips!  California-to-Maryland, Washington State-to-Virginia, and others.  At least one cyclist of "retirement age" dropped in after riding a "century " (100 miles).  Another stayed after discovering us after dark, being exhausted from riding all day and running out of daylight to make the "next destination".  Church groups also filled our rooms to the brim several times.  An area "vintage truck show" at Young's Jersey Dairy (a regional attraction/destination) attracted collectors from around the country and Canada, with Hearthstone Inn & Suites having the privilege of hosting the owner of what turned out to be the "Best of Show"!

When not polishing their amazing vintage truck, this great couple concentrates on growing some fine Canadian peaches at their beautiful orchard.










Transitioning through the summer months, Hearthstone Inn & Suites has continued to climb up the rankings of best-rated hotels in the local region, including Dayton, Springfield, Xenia, and Beavercreek. TripAdvisor awarded us the "Certificate of Excellence" ...and from that point onward more and more guests have been bypassing those national brand hotels with roaming knomes and retired Star Trek captains....to stay with us instead.  We are very appreciative of this!

Entering the Fall season, we are now in process of upgrading our bathroom amenities and getting "greener" as we add the acclaimed H2O+ Bath Aquatics collection of shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner in beautiful shower-mounted dispensers.

Bath Aquatics, instilled with marine-rich moisture and a clean, water-inspired scent, is derived from natural ocean resources.  Also, no more dropping of little plastic bottles in the shower from your wet hands or clogging up landfills with tons of plastic! H2O+ hotel amenities products are also found at Disney Parks, Resorts, & Cruise Ships. The company also has partnered in support Chicago's famed Shedd Aquarium.  We are planning to have  H2O+ products available for purchase in our gift shop.  Stay tuned...naturally!
