Prelude to the Holidays Again!

Leaves will soon be falling, colors changing, and so the season transitions quickly after Labor Day! Already we are seeing Christmas decor in stores and shops.  As usual, our bike trail guest traffic has increased as leisure trail riders take full, glorious  advantage of the cooler temperatures.  Antiquers are frequenting both the Springfield Ohio and Waynesville Ohio "hot spots" for timely treasures, and the Ohio Renaissance Festival is in FULL SWING!  In fact, we were privileged to host two enthusiastic newlyweds who tied the knot (or maybe cast the marriage gauntlet?) at the festival in full period attire! CONGRATULATIONS to Sir Frank and his wife Lady Katie! A lovelier couple 'tis impossible to find!

If you haven't attended the Ohio Renaissance Festival, the 2014 edition runs Saturdays/Sundays through October 19.  Tickets are available at discounted prices - but hurry!  Most Saturdays are now sold out - Sunday is still a very affordable option!

We have installed a new parking lot canopy for your safety and weather protection.  It is now twice as wide and twice as long, inviting you in to enjoy the continued quality of the one-and-only Hearthstone Inn & Suites.  All guest rooms have been newly upgraded to the H2O+ amenities line (same amenities as Disney Resorts and Disney Cruise Lines).

Passing through Summer - Great Things Ahead!

If you are like the staff here at Hearthstone Inn & Suites, there are those moments that you pause and wonder where the time went!  Seasons seem to fly by with ever-quickening speed!  It seems like just a few weeks ago we were putting in Spring plants and freshening the mulch around the inn.  In short order, local colleges produced freshly-minted graduates,  the temperatures climbed into the 90s, the battle of weeds began in earnest, and our adjacent BIKE TRAIL saw ever-increasing numbers of cyclists dropping in.  Quite a few either staying a night - or planning to in the near future! 

Then there were a number of local summer conferences and small group adventures. Several out-of-state cycling groups (including from Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia) chose Hearthstone as their "base of operations" for multi-day excursions.  On a few occasions, individual cyclists stayed with us on cross-country trips!  California-to-Maryland, Washington State-to-Virginia, and others.  At least one cyclist of "retirement age" dropped in after riding a "century " (100 miles).  Another stayed after discovering us after dark, being exhausted from riding all day and running out of daylight to make the "next destination".  Church groups also filled our rooms to the brim several times.  An area "vintage truck show" at Young's Jersey Dairy (a regional attraction/destination) attracted collectors from around the country and Canada, with Hearthstone Inn & Suites having the privilege of hosting the owner of what turned out to be the "Best of Show"!

When not polishing their amazing vintage truck, this great couple concentrates on growing some fine Canadian peaches at their beautiful orchard.










Transitioning through the summer months, Hearthstone Inn & Suites has continued to climb up the rankings of best-rated hotels in the local region, including Dayton, Springfield, Xenia, and Beavercreek. TripAdvisor awarded us the "Certificate of Excellence" ...and from that point onward more and more guests have been bypassing those national brand hotels with roaming knomes and retired Star Trek captains....to stay with us instead.  We are very appreciative of this!

Entering the Fall season, we are now in process of upgrading our bathroom amenities and getting "greener" as we add the acclaimed H2O+ Bath Aquatics collection of shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner in beautiful shower-mounted dispensers.

Bath Aquatics, instilled with marine-rich moisture and a clean, water-inspired scent, is derived from natural ocean resources.  Also, no more dropping of little plastic bottles in the shower from your wet hands or clogging up landfills with tons of plastic! H2O+ hotel amenities products are also found at Disney Parks, Resorts, & Cruise Ships. The company also has partnered in support Chicago's famed Shedd Aquarium.  We are planning to have  H2O+ products available for purchase in our gift shop.  Stay tuned...naturally!

Summer Fun at Hearthstone Inn & Suites!

Summer's arrived and Hearthstone Inn & Suites is BUSIER than ever hosting cycling groups, biking friends, and solo riders. The nearby Village of Yellow Springs is a popular draw, as is antiquing, hiking our local parks, and visiting family.  Our TripAdvisor and Yelp! reviews are continuing to catch the attention of travelers who are looking for "something different" than the routine national franchise hotel/motel.

We have introduced new "paperless check-in" at our Front Desk!   Very few hotels offer this, and it is much "greener" than wasting paper to sign cards and forms when you arrive! With the simple "swipe" on our counter-based iPad, review our guest guidelines then just use your finger and provide your printed name, vehicle ID, and signature. That's it!

Our popular Jacuzzi King Suites now feature bluetooth clock radios in the bedroom, with exceptionally fine sound.  Play your own music collection from your digital device as you enjoy a soothing Jacuzzi tub.

As usual, our very own Village of Cedarville offers quiet surroundings, hiking in Indian Mound Reserve Park, a portion of the bike trail right outside our entrance, and several nice restaurants and cafes. Another calendar page flips over and the outdoors beckon" full speed ahead!   Outside our inn more and more cyclists are seen rolling past our wrap-around porch, many stop in to purchase energy snacks or cool beverages from our cooler.  

We begin this month with our newly-proclaimed TripAdvisor "Certificate of Excellence".  Awarded to international lodging properties which have met certain exceptional criteria based on the number and rankings of real guest reviews, we are now classified with some very prestigious, world-class hotels.  Hearthstone Inn & Suites even begins with an "H"....so we fit right in with the "big boys"!   The old "stars" hotel rankings of last century are becoming less meaningful nowadays with the impact of the internet where "real" people post the quality of experience.  If you have not yet stayed with us, give us a try.  We are not a "B&B", so you won't have to sleep in someone's house.  Neither are we an impersonal  "bed-for-your-head" neon and stucco lodging franchise .  As we are an independent hotel, you'll discover a perfect blend of relaxation, comfort, hotel convenience, and "B&B" warmth.  Your perfect escape or overnight stay!  We don't employ those roaming gnomes or retired Star Trek captains. BIKE TRAILS are very much underway now with myriad cyclists, couples, and families enjoying our Little Miami/Ohio-to-Erie Trail.  Our adjacent trail is the longest one of it's type in the U.S., fully paved and mostly off-road.   You can hop on your bike here at Hearthstone, walk 10 feet to the adjacent trail, head north towards Columbus 25 miles or south to Cincinnati about 65 miles.  Yellow Springs is a 20-mile trek. At long last....the slow entry in Springtime....which SHOULD have started last month!  Rumor has it that even the Easter bunny was seen wearing a ski jacket....

Early May opens up in our quiet town with area college graduations (we had one of our own!), the arrival of bike trail users.  We have hosted several bike groups already, and at least two major organized bike trail events have been seen right outside our breakfast area doors!  As we head into the MUCH-anticipated warmer weather, we are looking forward to conference season, more bike trail/cyclist activity, antiquers and get-awayers.  Anniversaries typically loom one month away (for all the June-wedding folks!), Mother's Day beckons (how about a surprise night out and a stay at Hearthstone Inn, gentlemen?)

Well, it has been a VERY l-o-n-g winter for us all here in Ohio.  We are finally beginning to see the renewal of nice weather with cyclists on our adjacent Ohio-to-Erie Bike Trail and a marathon race which passed right on by our inn a short time ago. 

April is the perfect time to make those nice-weather get-away plans.  Hiking, cycling, exploring, antiquing, or just "escaping".  Here at Hearthstone Inn, we find assorted "agendas"!  Here are a few upcoming area springtime events you might want to consider:

Come be a part of this annual family-oriented biking event. Centered in Greene County, Ohio, the tour utilizes the nationally recognized, award-winning rail-to-trail system and their adjacent communities, with a different trail featured each day. The event is designed to raise vital funds to support the region's extensive system of nationally-recognized paved, multi-use trails.

Don't forget that anniversary, birthday, or special occasion!  Can you get-away during the week?  While our weekends tend to book-up quite fast, there are many week-day options when nice rooms are available, the crowds are gone at most area attractions, and relaxation is at its best for your enjoyment.  Have dinner at a gourmet restaurant or bistro in the nearby Village of Yellow Springs.  Stroll through our local Indian Mound Reserve park and see the myriad clusters of wildflowers just 2 minutes from your comfortable room. Hurray For Spring!!!!

Well, we don't know about you, but all of our family is counting down the days until the end of this very difficult winter.  How much shoveling? Too much....  Relentless snow.... Arctic temperatures....then thunderstorms and flooding (that's one way to chase away the moles!)

Here at Hearthstone Inn & Suites we've been blessed with so many GREAT guests over the years.  The best part is that once a new guest discovers us among the myriad "franchise" national brands - they never look back.  Why stay here?  Homeiness.  Cleanliness.  Uniqueness.  We are not a "bed-and-breakfast"....neither are we an impersonal "credit card please" lodging business.  We are an independent country inn where you get the BEST elements of both!
